In her Order dated February 8, 2017, United States District Judge Amy Berman Jackson blocked the merger of insurance giants Anthem and Cigna. A copy of that Order can be found here.
American Medical Association President Andrew W. Gurman, MD, responded to the Order with the following statement, “In a David vs. Goliath battle between consumers and mega insurers, a federal judge today ruled that Anthem’s proposed acquisition of Cigna poses a clear and present threat to the quality, accessibility and affordability of health care in the United States.”
The Memorandum Opinion is currently under seal. When it becomes public, WhatleyKallas will post the opinion.
