The Physicians Foundation Compiles List of Top 5 Issues For Doctors in 2013

The Physicians Foundation, which was founded and funded by our settlements in the Managed Care Litigation, issued a report of the top five issues for doctors in 2013 as part of its on-going effort to survey doctors to identify and address important problems for practicing physicians.  “It is clear that lawmakers need to work closely with physicians to ensure that we are well-prepared to meet the demands of 30 million new patients in the health care system and to efficiently address the impending doctor shortage and growing patient access crisis,” said our friend and client, Lou Goodman, president of The Physicians Foundation and CEO of the Texas Medical Assn., in a statement.

The top five issues that doctors will face this year are:

  • Uncertainty about the Affordable Care Act
  • Practice Consolidation
  • The impact of 30 million newly insured patients
  • The decline in physician autonomy
  • Rising administrative burdens

The Foundation’s Report, “The Future of Medical Practice,” addresses these issues and contains proposals for resolving these and other issues
