IVY CREEK HEALTHCARE HONORS LOCAL FIRST RESPONDERS AND HOSPITAL STAFF AFTER HEROIC RESPONSE TO TRAGIC SHOOTING

Last month after a tragic mass shooting in Dadeville, Alabama, 15 of the gunshot victims were brought by ambulance and private vehicle to Lake Martin Community Hospital in Dadeville for treatment.  Last week, Ivy Creek recognized those first responders with a special lunch.  Without the outstanding work of Lake Martin Community Hospital and the other first responders, the results of the tragedy would have been even worse.  Although Lake Martin’s remarkable work reinforces the importance of supporting and fighting for rural healthcare providers, rural hospitals in Alabama remain at risk.  For that reason, Ivy Creek’s Lake Martin Community Hospital is a named Plaintiff in the In re Blue Cross Blue Shield Antitrust Litigation where Whatley Kallas, LLP is lead counsel, working to try to help all healthcare providers, including those providers in rural communities.  Without further support and fair reimbursement rates, rural hospitals in Alabama will continue to close at unprecedented rates and leave communities like Dadeville unprepared to treat patients from tragedies like the recent mass shooting.
